Ingredients

  • 2 large Italian sub rolls or hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices beef or turkey salami
  • 6 slices beef or turkey pepperoni
  • 6 slices turkey deli slices or beef capicola-style deli meat
  • 4 slices beef prosciutto-style deli meat optional
  • 8 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • ¼ cup sliced green olives
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: banana peppers or roasted red peppers

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, keeping one side attached so they open like a book.
  • Layer the deli slices evenly inside each roll, starting with salami, then pepperoni-style slices, followed by turkey or beef deli meat and optional prosciutto-style slices.
  • Sprinkle sliced olives and any optional peppers evenly over the filling.
  • Top generously with mozzarella or provolone cheese.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper evenly over the bread.
  • Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is golden and crisp.
  • Remove from the oven, slice if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

Tips & Variations

  • Swap mozzarella for provolone, fontina, or a mild white cheddar for deeper flavor.
  • Add shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes after baking for freshness and crunch.
  • Use garlic-infused olive oil or butter for extra richness on the bread.
  • Make it spicy by adding chili flakes or spicy pickled vegetables before serving.

Storage

  • Refrigerator: Wrap leftovers tightly and store for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 8–10 minutes to restore crispness.
  • Freezing: Not recommended, as the bread texture changes after thawing.
